Dear Representative Conyers

You have the gavel.
That's what you told us at the Progressive Town Hall two years ago in Flint, Michigan.
We just needed to work for anti-war candidates, and when the Democrats gained power, you'd have the gavel.
It was a nice reassurance: we met, we marched, we volunteered, we hoped.

We were schmucks.

You have the gavel, you are the prosecutor.
We can't do it.
It's why we elected you.
We followed the law and the custom, now you should enforce the Constitution, or else it is all only a puppet show.

I don't care if it is your last political act, if the DLC told you to run out the clock... live to fight another day... keep your powder dry.
