Dick Meyer, editorial director of CBS news dot com wrote an editorial, Good Riddance To The Gingrichites, about the surreal Upside Down World aspect of Republican rule for the past 12 years, but he slyly glossed over an important cog in the GOP leadership formula, the co-opting of all press courage and responsibility.
What? Me worry?
Who, ME?
The wise guy next to me says when you point at the other guy there are more fingers pointing back at you. He is such a boy scout. And he is right on.
Dick's exact quote is: "The men who ran the Republican Party in the House of Representatives for the past 12 years were a group of weirdos. Together, they comprised one of the oddest legislative power cliques in our history. And for 12 years, the media didn't call a duck a duck, because that's not something we're supposed to do."
No, Dick, that is what you were supposed to do. When did your boss become the GOP, Madison Avenue, and your corporate bosses, instead of the American People?
You were responsible for this, Dick.
We spent 12 years wondering where were the shrivelled balls of the American Press being kept? Turkmenistan? Kazakhstan? In the frozen orange juice can with the lapsed expiration date forgotten in the bottom of the freezer?
