Gore and Kerry could start something
Seriously, go and listen to Mark Crispin Miller's speech on TUC Radio.
Democracy is under assault.
It was hard earning democracy in America, we can lose it once again.
We need a break from the staged news.
We need a Chautauqua Summer. People need to start talking about our democracy.
Before the Bill of Rights is shredded by the Boy Who Would Be King.
Remember in upside down world, Dubya says something like, "we don't have timetables" which means, of course, translated from Newspeak to Reality speak:
The news is cooked and dinner is at 6.
(Did you ever notice that when the Bushies need to reveal something particularly newsworthy but awful it happens on Friday afternoon? It'd be almost a joke if it wasn't so serious. And don't let me get started on the so-called color coded revolutions.)
We all know now about GOTV, and voter suppression.
We know the news of the week is scheduled to arouse particular focused segments of the population.
Here is my idea of the day:
The Dems should make a strategy of disrupting the official cooked news schedule.
And because there is no Democratic Party unity, we only would need two people to do it.
Mr. Al Gore and Senator John Kerry should stand up on their hind legs and announce that they were robbed. The numbers and the proof are there. They would not be releasing state secrets. They would have the stage because they are rich celebrities. It would be the best work they have ever done. These two men working together could be the key to saving American Democracy.
Just tell the truth: when Al and John got robbed in 2000 and 2004, so did we, the American people.
They should quit their day jobs and go to every town in America on a bus or a train.
They can do it cheap if they count their change, and stay overnights with Progressives.
Bring a cameraman. Make an Al and John roadtrip movie. Bring John Edwards along, but leave Joe Lieberman at home. Don't write scripts, leave the entourages at home, meet with real Americans. Wear comfortable shoes.
Talk for free to local people like the small non-corporate newspapers who can spread their words. Go to the malls and Walmarts and churches where they'll find average people who don't know or care that ...
OUR VOTES ARE NOT BEING COUNTED.
The machines are rigged!
Voter rolls are being suppressed by purges!
There are caging lists!
Why do you think that Data Mines are worth more than gold mines!
They should go on Wheel of Fortune and Oprah and the local news at 5.
Whatever they do, it would be more energizing and hopeful than what is happening now.
They should in August join Cindy in the ditch.
Or Mayor Nagin in N'Orleans in September.
They should go to Iran and meet our future victims.
Better yet, they can start here in Flint, Michigan.
Bush would never come here to respond.

Coincidence? I guess I was on someone else's wavelength on this post - Gore told New Yorker Magazine that he may or may not talk about 2000 being stolen. http://www.bradblog.com/archives/00002861.htm
"Does he, like many Democrats, think the election was stolen?
Gore pauses a long time and stares into the middle distance. "There may come a time when I speak on that,” Gore says, "but it’s not now; I need more time to frame it carefully if I do.” Gore sighs. "In our system, there’s no intermediate step between a definitive Supreme Court decision and violent revolution."
Later, I put the question of Gore’s views on the matter to David Boies, his lawyer in the Florida-recount battle. "He thought the court’s ruling was wrong and obviously political," Boies says. So he considers the election stolen? "I think he does—and he’s right."
